The Question Behind the App
Here is what I kept thinking about while working in AI:
Language models are getting better every quarter. They write copy, generate video, clone voices, and build polished digital avatars that never stumble on camera. When AI can produce technically flawless content on demand, what does good even mean anymore?
I think the answer is yourself. Not polished-yourself. The version of you that has actual opinions, trips over a sentence and recovers, or laughs at something unexpected mid-take. That version requires a real life behind it. No model can replicate it.
Expression, whether that is showing up on camera, making a video, or giving a talk, is how you put that self into the world. It is the most direct line between who you are and the people you are trying to reach.
The problem is that most creators get stuck before they ever get there. Not because they do not have something to say. Because they are afraid they will forget what they were going to say. Because they freeze. Because the teleprompter that was supposed to help is making things worse, with fixed scroll speeds, core features behind a paywall, and apps that make you chase the text instead of letting you speak.
A teleprompter should free your mind, not occupy more of it.
That is why I built Beast.
What Beast Is Built to Do
The name is intentional. I wanted it to be the most capable and most reliable tool in the space, something that handles the hard technical parts, precise AI follow reading, floating overlay across any app, dual-camera recording, and seamless cross-device sync, so completely that you stop thinking about it.
When the tool disappears, you are left with what actually matters: your delivery, your presence, and your point of view.
Why the free tier is permanent: AI follow reading and 1080P recording are free, with no trial clock and no feature wall. The people who most need this, someone recording their first video, a teacher preparing a lesson, or a person who has never been comfortable on camera, are not the people who should hit a paywall first. The floating prompt window, 4K export, and iCloud sync are the features worth paying for. The core workflow is not.
About Me
I am Sean, the developer. I come from an AI product background. I spent several years at leading AI companies in China building LLM products before going indie. Before that, I studied drama and film at university.
That combination ended up being exactly the right background for this problem: understanding how AI works from the inside, and understanding what authentic performance actually requires.
I have one son. I am based in China.
